When you want to tackle writing a children’s book, we’ve got a few pointers here for you which could help with this challenge.
- Going to the Library is a must! Use the library as your fuel stop. Top up on creative ideas and compare ideas you have to ideas that are out there already. Think about characters that you are drawn to, and age ranges the book actually targets.
- Spending time with kids has lots of plus points: you can get to know how they talk, and what they laugh at during their conversations with other children. Pay attention to the things that are catching their eye.
- Get started the book writing process. Set time aside each day to have creative writing fun. Aiming for 5 pages a night/day with help get into a nice habit.
- Develop your characters. Establish them and give them depth. Get them talking about interesting topics.
- List making – Set your goals for your books. Do you want to make children laugh? Do you want to educate them? Or do you even introduce them to interesting topics? Write your aim down on paper. This will help you stay focused!
